Why is it important for my dog to have a glossy coat?
One of the first signs of a dog’s general health is the condition of his or her coat. A tangle-free, shiny coat indicates good grooming, lack of parasites, good circulation and a healthy diet and immune system. Performance dogs especially need a glossy coat. It won’t help their actual performance, but it will serve as a visual feast of health and vitality. If a performance dog’s skin and coat are not in peak condition, it is likely that something else is wrong that will affect their performance. Some breeds naturally have wiry, dull-looking coats and it’s sometimes difficult to tell if some preventative care is needed. So, even though nothing is wrong with them, it’s sometimes nice to give them an extra polish when we can.
